English Heritage Gardens & Seasonal Pages
Many English Heritage Properties have extensive beautiful gardens filled with all kinds of rare and unusual plants and wildlife. Search through our database of properties, and search under 'Gardens' as the property type to pick out our most famous garden sites. We have chosen 9 of these English Heritage Gardens from all over England and have listed them in the side menu here. Click on the titles to obtain a more detailed description of the historic gardens including an outline of their history, highlights of the garden, wildlife and any rare and unusual plants of interest.
With our own properties we seek to:
- Protect wildlife sites such as bat roosts and wall flora
- Encourage species-rich habitats
- Pioneer management regimes to protect archaeology and create attractive landscapes
- Monitor and maintain all trees, especially ancient ones
- Promote environmentally-friendly management and visitor policies
- Carry out restoration projects where appropriate
Opening times, directions, facilities and entrance prices are all available from our English Heritage properties database.
